Education

Impact Dance have been delivering high quality dance workshops in schools, colleges and educational institutes across London, the UK, and globally since 1995. These include: The Royal Ballet School, Sadler's Wells and Breakin'  Convention

We have also taken our expertise to countries such as: Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, USA and Hong Kong.

We are committed to building partnerships which allow our teachers to empower young people through dance.  The Impact team, which is led by Artistic Director of Impact Dance, Hakeem Onibudo, has established a strong combination of street dance/hip-hop, contemporary movement and physical theatre to create imaginative, narrative pieces for key stages 2 to 4.

Current Schools we deliver to: Berrymede Junior School, Stockwell Park Academy and Chelsea Academy

Case Study

A great example of  Impact Dance's work can be seen in its growing relationship with Chelsea Academy.

In early 2011, Impact delivered a one off workshop with Chelsea Academy. This session proved to be a great success, resulting in Hakeem Onibudo inviting the school to take part in Live Vibe Springboard at the Lilian Baylis Studio at Sadler's Wells. With the help of Botis Seva, Hakeem created a piece for the Academy in 5 weeks for this event. Now, Impact Dance is excited to be working with this school for the entire year until July 2012.

Client Feedback

Impact Dance has been instrumental in the development of dance at our Academy which has only been open for 2 years. Hakeem and his team have worked with a wide range of young people and have been successful in raising their aspirations, whilst improving their self -confidence and self -belief. The students strive to work hard in the sessions which are challenging, yet motivating for them. Having been given opportunities such as performing at Live Vibe at Sadler's Wells, our students are becoming stronger performers with a wider knowledge of the world of dance. They are also learning key skills that will be transferrable across the curriculum and beyond- discipline, time keeping, perserverance and team work."

Michelle Grant, Chelsea Academy

Hakeem has been a guest teacher at The Royal Ballet 's International Summer School  for the past 3 years, which attracts a high standard of ballet students from around the world. With language barriers and cultural differences, Hakeem's dance fusion lessons remain one of the highlights of the White Lodge Summer School each year, encouraging students to embrace their own unique and individual styles. His positive and inspiring teaching manner has enthused  all the young people he has worked with."

The Royal Ballet Summer School team

"One of my favourite classes at Summer School was street dance with Mr Onibudo because it taught me a new way of moving."
